Warwick Open Novice Tournament

Claudia Williams on

On Saturday 5th December, UWAC held their annual novice tournament. In its second year, Warwick Open Novice Tournament (or WONT for short) welcomed archers from across the Midlands whom had been shooting for less than a year. The round was the ever familiar Portsmouth round (60 arrows at 20 yards).

In the male recurve category, Birmingham's Guy Coop swept up gold with a massive score of 526, the highest of the day, closely followed by Warwick's Alfie Hancox on 499 and Loughborough's James Lamprecht on 490. Special Congratulations must also go to Warwick's James Holmes, 485 and Chi Ng, 461 placing 4th and 6th respectively.

Overall, of the 4 clubs competing, Nottingham took home 7 medals, Warwick took 6 and Loughborough and Birmingham both took 1 medal each.

Congratulations to everyone who competed. It was a very enjoyable day and there are definitely some new archers to watch out for.
Many thanks to Jess Watts for organising the tournament and all of UWAC who came to help and show support on the day.
