Freshers 2021

Posted by Chris Woodgate on 23rd September 2021

As the start of term at Warwick approaches, we look forward to welcoming new members to the club. For those of you wanting more information on how joining archery works, please take a look at our Get Involved page. If you have specific accessibility concerns, we have a dedicated page for that. Otherwise, read on for exact dates and times of sessions for those of you new to the club!

Taster Sessions

If you are new to archery, a taster session is a great way to decide if this is the sport for you!

We have two taster sessions in Welcome Week this year. The first is Wednesday 29th September 14:00-16:00, and the second is part of the university-wide Sports Day and runs Friday 1st October 18:30-20:30. (Please note, the sessions on the Warwick Sport system will show an extra half hour either side of these times; this is to allow us to set-up and pack down.)

Both of these sessions will take place in Zone D of the Sports and Wellness Hub.

To take part in a taster, you do not need to be a member of the club, but you will need to book via the Warwick Sport system and bring your ID card so you can get through the barriers.

Beginners Courses

We are running two beginners' courses this year:

Course 1: 6th, 10th, 13th, 17th October (Wednesdays and Sundays)

Course 2: 24th, 31st October, 7th, 14th November (just Sundays)

All course sessions are held in Zone D of the Sports and Wellness Hub, exact times can be found on the SU event pages. Tickets are available here - Course 1 and Course 2. You'll need to have bought club membership to purchase a ticket!

You need to complete one of these to be able to participate in one of our regular club sessions. All equipment is provided. We ask that any long hair is tied up, protruding piercings are removed, and that you wear comfortable clothes suitable for gentle exercise. (Trainers, jeans and a t-shirt is perfect!) We ask that you bring a face covering to wear when not shooting, and hand sanitiser will be provided.

Signups will be via the SU website, and you will need to book via the Warwick Sport system before each session starts so you can get through the barrier.

We hope to see you at a session soon!
